Concept (English below)

L’artista argentino Daniel González è tra i finalisti del concorso per la realizzazione di un’opera site-specific per il foyer del Humboldt Forum – Castello di Berlino, attualmente in fase di costruzione.

L’opera pensata da Daniel González è un fregio di connessione tra il passato barocco del Palazzo, come sede della dinastia degli Hohenzollern e la sua proiezione verso il presente e il futuro come centro di confronto, di produzione di curiosità e come casa della cultura alla base dell’istituzione Humboldt Forum. Il fregio si inserisce chiaramente come un flash back nella storia del Palazzo riprendendo i momenti salienti della sua storia verranno, come una immagine istantanea a parete: dalle origini della dinastia degli Hohenzollern, al danneggiamento durante la Seconda Guerra Mondiale, alla distruzione del Palazzo nel ’50, la sua ricostruzione e la successiva demolizione del Palazzo della Repubblica nel ‘76 e 2006/08. L’opera proposta si ricollega allo stile barocco di Andreas Schlüter presente nelle facciate nord, ovest e sud, così come nei tre lati del Schlüterhof. Gli stilemi scelti si ispirano artisticamente all’operazione di recupero dei frammenti originali e la rimodulazione formale di elementi nella loro unità più completa così indicata dell’architetto Franco Stella.

I progetti finalisti del concorso dal titolo “Art in Architecture” saranno esposti durante tutto il mese di settembre nella sede del Ministero delle Infrastrutture tedesco (BBR) in Strasse der 12. Juni 112, Berlin. Accesso libero.

The Argentine artist Daniel González is among the finalists of the closed competition for the realization of a site-specific work in the foyer of the Humboldt Forum – Berlin Castle (currently under construction).

The work designed by Daniel González is a frieze of connection between the baroque past of the Palace, as main location of the Hohenzollern dynasty and its projection towards the present and the future as a center of confrontation, of curiosity production and as a cultural home at the basis of the Humboldt Forum. The frieze is clearly inserted as a flashback in the history of the Palace, taking up again the salient moments of its history, like an instantaneous wall picture: from the origins of the Hohenzollern dynasty, to the damage during the Second World War, to the destruction of the Palace 50, its reconstruction and subsequent demolition of the Palazzo della Repubblica in ’76 and 2006/08. The proposed work is related to the baroque style of Andreas Schlüter present in the north, west and south facades, as well as on the three sides of the Schlüterhof. The styles are artistically inspired by the operation of recovering the original fragments and the formal remodeling of elements in their most complete unit, as indicated by the architect Franco Stella.

The finalist projects of the competition entitled “Art in Architecture” will be exhibited throughout the month of September at the headquarters of the German Ministry of Infrastructure (BBR) in Strasse der 12. Juni 112, Berlin. Free access.
