June 14, 2011 – January 8, 2012
public project for El Museo’s Bienal: The (S) Files, Museo del Barrio, New York City

Pop-Up Museo Disco Club is a new work by Daniel González that takes inspiration from the aesthetic of pop up books to temporarily transform the front of Museo del Barrio into a fable. Through the use of sequin images, vinyl constructions, moving inflatable shapes, silver mylar fringes and neon wires, Pop-Up Museo Disco Club creates a museum site for social exchange, a gathering place developed from the artist’s experiments with freedom and dreams.
“I work with what I call the secret side of reality in order to create a few instants of innocence”.
